Here we go Luby-Loo…..

I literally JUST typed the title and my 2 yr old daughter is now waking from her nap. I first began blogging 10 years ago when I embarked on a one year journey of teaching English in South Korea. Blogging was an easy way to journal my adventures, allowing friends and family back home to keep up with me! I took a sabbatical for a couple months when my boss began stalking me (yikes! Work place politics anyone??), resumed briefly after meeting Gavin on E-Harmony (yep! We are an E-Harmony success story!), then, upon my return to Texas, life whirlwinded into 8 years of dating, engagement, marriage, moving to west Texas, having babies, and moving BACK to the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex (or have they changed it to a MEGAplex yet??).  We’ve been back for two and a half years now and for the first time, we finally feel like the dust is settling! I’ve had it on my heart to write a book since I was in college, and blogging helps get my creative juices flowing, so “here we go Luby Loo!” all over again! After an almost 10-year hiatus, “I’m baaaa-aaack!”

A little profile for you: Hello! My name is Lindy. I’m in my early thirties (at the time of this writing). I have a 5-yr-old son starting Kindergarten this fall, a 3 and a half year old son, and a 2 yr old daughter. Though WE did not plan our babies so close together, we firmly believe that God did! And in spite of the daily grind of sibling spats, diaper changes, potty training, and ABC’s – they truly bring such a completion to our family. We delight in them. We are grateful for the opportunity to pass along a Christian heritage to them (my husband and I did not grow up in Christian homes, at least until we were in our late teens). In between marriage and babies, I taught computer, English, 2nd grade, and adult ESL. I love cultural diversity. While I firmly believe what Jesus says in John 14:6, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except thru me,” (i.e. He is the ONLY way….to come to the Father, the One True God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob), I simultaneously celebrate diversity as I believe diversity in itself points us BACK to God – for He is our Creator. Far too many of us tend to put Him in a box.  Dress a certain way, talk a certain way, cook a certain way, raise your kids a certain way…..nope. There certainly are “essentials” within the realm of following God’s ways, but then there is personal conviction – because we are each so uniquely designed, we each have unique gifts to offer as well as unique needs to be met. So ONLY by the Holy Spirit’s leading can we map out how to walk in our gifting and how to meet the needs of those around us, as He calls us to.

So with AAAALLLL of that said, here I sit. Once again. At the laptop. Writing our my thoughts, Attempting to get the creative juices flowing once again, in the midst of trains, baby dolls, snacks, and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. Pulling on my deep repertoire of vocabulary that’s been hibernating underneath the toddler talk! I’m believing this is only the beginning of a deep, thought-provoking, heart-touching, spirit-driven book that will one day be published, with the help and support of my family, “The House on 74th Street.”  Want a sneak preview? Check back next week! Until then, how was my first blog? Let me know your thoughts by commenting below! Want to hear my thoughts on a certain topic? Comment below!

Blessings!
