Gee, I need to get better at this blogging thing, but I know I keep saying that... maybe one day it will actually happen....

This morning, after Gavin left for work, I was standing at the kitchen sink looking out the window while eating my bowl of oats. (I know, I know..... it's better to eat sitting down...but I'm still claiming the new mom card! Life is busy right now!) Anyways, as I thought of all that I needed to accomplish today, I saw my neighbor across the street, Mr. James, walking out to pick up his newspaper in his robe. (Keeping in mind, it was still only about 7:00 or so, still dark).

Well, Elijah Jordan Dickson was born at 3:02 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2011. He weighed 8 lbs and measured 21 inches long. With God's strength, the help and support of my doula, Sara, her mom the midwife, Dana, and my amazing husband, Gavin, I was able to experience the natural birth that I had prayed for - all glory to God!

Well, at 37 weeks pregnant, I'm definitely feeling ready to have this baby! As amazing and smooth as this pregnancy has been, these last few weeks are starting to take a toll on my body. I'm not able to move around / do as much as I normally could because the baby weight on my belly causes my lower back to ache a lot quicker.

MUFFIN
For any of you who've known us for any length of time, you know that we have 2 cats. Muffin is our older cat, a bobtail (she has no tail) that Gavin's had since he graduated high school. She tends to be temperamental and territorial. She generally doesn't like strangers, keeps to herself, and is a stickler for her schedule. At about 8:30 every night, she rounds the corner with a meow, "It's bedtime! Please come put me to bed!" And so, I follow her to the laundry room, make sure she has food and water, and close the door behind her.

Greetings friends!
Gavin and I had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! The weekend prior, we traveled to Fort Worth for our first baby shower, hosted by my mom and sisters. They had a really cute Winnie the Pooh cake and honey bee cupcakes. I also was especially impressed by the creative idea of "honey pots" as party favors - These were the little circular containers like what lip balm sometimes comes in, filled with honey, and taped to each one was a little one-verse prayer for Baby Dickson. So now we have lots of friends and family praying God's Word over our son! What a blessing!

As of Tuesday, November 9th, I will officially be 24 weeks pregnant with our sweet baby boy. I can tell that my belly is expanding more and more these days, which I'm told is normal at this point in the journey. I am usually able to get comfortable at night, with the help of a couple extra pillows to support my belly and back, but some nights I find myself tossing and turning. Gavin tells me I'm taking up more and more of the bed, hard as I try not to, because I know he needs his sleep more than me since he works much longer hours than I do.

So ever since getting used to the idea of going without a Facebook, all of a sudden my mind is bombarded with all these ideas of, "Hey, I should make my status update say this!" So just for your sheer enjoyment, here's a few.
If I had a Facebook, my status would say...
Lindy Dickson..."is starting to feel a bit cramped."
"Oh no! I'm starting to crave sweets! What's up with this?"
"Doesn't really like it when people leave their mess behind for ME to deal with!"
"Gggrrr! The cat spit up in the nursery! Oh wait...maybe she's just giving me some practice...."
